On Friday night, a slew of Occupy DC protestors attempted to storm the Walter E. Washington Convention Center where the Americans for Prosperity Foundation was hosting its annual Tribute to Ronald Reagan Dinner. In attendance were several hundred members of AFP, donors, and a group of GW students.
In the middle of the dinner, attendees were informed that a large group of protestors was outside the building causing a disturbance. DC Metropolitan police officers had to restrain the protesters, one of whom actually entered the grand ballroom and began shouting in the middle of Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano’s presentation.
At the end of the dinner, attendees were warned to exit the back of the building and to “not engage” the demonstrators. Despite this fact, protestors heckled attendees, claiming “they were going to take the one percent’s trust funds”. The people at the receiving end of the criticism were ten GW students, none of whom have trust funds.
