Hello and welcome! It’s another new year at George Washington and all of us at The Patriot are looking forward to the energy and enthusiasm that you guys are sure to bring to campus life.
So what does The Patriot do? You can read our about page, but essentially we serve to bring you unfiltered news – no rose-tinted glasses over here.
We tell it like it is. The Patriot’s coverage asks tough questions and cuts through the fluff. Our editorials spark dialogue by maintaining a more thoughtful approach to student issues.
We also host a network of sites including our humor blog The Colonialist and Inside the SA, our student government hub.
Here’s a few things we pledge to readers every year:
- If you have something interesting to say, we will publish you.
- If you reach out to us with a story tip, we will look into it. Of course, we are going to investigate the piece with a journalistic eye, but if it’s worth our time we’ll dig deeper. The best way to change a broken system is to expose it!
- We pledge to do our best. We will be here all year cranking out content and keeping you in the loop of all that’s going on at GW so that you can be part of an informed populace. At the end of the day, that’s what we’re all about.
So enjoy your CI! Have a blast. Visit our table at the student org fair for some free Patriot swag and giveaways. If you like writing, editing, or producing a publication, shoot us an email. And don’t forget to apply for our Assistant Editor (freshman rep) position!
We’re looking forward to meeting you all! In the meantime, be sure to follow our updates on Facebook and Twitter!
Best,
Zachary Gorelick ’13
